Prey is a first-person shooting game, which has a lot to offer for all players. The game has a dark side to it, but thing like you would expect from Paranormal or Silent Hill. The game was launched in 2006 by Human Head Studios who are currently working on a sequel to the game. The game runs on a highly modified Doom 3 engine, which is very similar to Pray in many ways. However, players will be sure to find a few difference in the game.
A supernatural theme is presented with a dark side to it. The game is about fighting through an alien invasion, which is focused on enslaving the population on earth. Even though the game is a few years old, there are still some great graphics, story life and features to take advantage of.
The game was released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. No newer versions have been released, which means it’s not available on PS4 or Xbox One. A modern PC will be more than good enough to run the game graphics, so be sure to play the game if you don’t have it already.
Explaining the story would be a spoiler as there are various aspects that take part during the game. The game opens up with the main character Tommy (you) who lives on a reservation along with his grandfather and girlfriend. The game presents Tommy and just how angry he is with the world and how things are going in his personal life.
There are many things to interact with in the beginning as well as throughout the rest of the game. The beginning will provide you with all the tools you need, much like a control walk through like finding in most other games.
The real game begins when an alien ship that arrives at the resort and captures everyone there. This is by far one of the best game intros seen in a long time. The video quality is excellent, event compared to a game of today. Tommy is also captured but soon freed due to a malfunction in the ship. His mission is to stay on the ship and free his grandfather and girlfriend as well.
As you can imagine, this is where things begin. The game shows various features, which allow you to get to the aliens and attack, but be careful as they can be just as sneaky. The game involves a fair amount of swearing from the angry earthling, but in more ways than one he usually says what you were thinking anyway.
As you move through the stages more weapons become available. One of the best twists in the game is that Tommy has the ability to operate alien weaponry, which means players are in for a whole new FPS experience.
There are a few features that allow you to use gravity to your advantage, which means walking on walls and roofs are possible, but keep in mind your enemy has the same abilities so also be real to aim anywhere.
The game has a lot more to offer such as a mini shooting game between loading screens, which places you back into the fight scene where you were killed. There are many aliens to take out, but it’s definitely an enjoyable game. Might not be dark in the sense of devils and demons, but an alien invasion might just be enough to get the thrills going with this fast action game.
