ParanormalParanormal is a video game for computers. The game was developed by Matt Cohen who is a member of GiantBomb. The game has a unique gameplay opportunity featuring various paranormal activities in the house you are placed.

The story begins with the player as an art designer who just purchased a new house. However, the new owner seems to believe the house is haunted and takes it upon himself to film the activities to prove his suspicions to his family, friends and most importantly, to himself.

With the first version of the game players (the owner) walk around the house with a camcorder in the hope of capturing some activities. The interesting part of the game is that you might never have the same beginnings. As you start walking through the house there are many things that might happen. The developer has included various possibilities, which definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat.

From personal experience and other reviews, you might walk around the dark house where things mysteriously move around and appear around you. Other time the game starts quite slow, not really showing any activities, but then everything might come at you all at once.

Being armed with only a camera and flashlight, you will find yourself helpless. There are a few things to interact with around the house, but these things will definitely not be able to assist. A mobile phone can be found in the kitchen, which could receive calls from your wife or a paranormal expert to provide you with more info about what’s happening.

At the end of the day, the game is all about trying to find out as much as you can and enjoying the thrills before being cornered by the entity and killed. Definitely a very different experience from any game I’ve played before and some scary things that occur the longer you manage to stay.

The game started off with an Unreal III engine, which doesn’t offer the best graphics, but also does not require a fast machine to get what the game has to offer. The engine is good enough to provide the graphics the developer has included. It’s been said that various updates will become available, which provides more scenarios and places to go. The developer is also working on better graphics with an Unreal IV engine, which will definitely increase the graphics and abilities.

The Good

The game has a unique playing style, which will entertain players for hours. Be sure to use a 5.1 sound system to get the full thrill of the game as things occur all around you. The developer has managed to provide various scary substations, which will be new for most players.
All the new updates and content will all be 100% free and will provide all the additional content needed for better graphics, more activities, and paranormal situations.

The Bad

Unfortunately, the game was never completed, which is why the developer is providing all these updates on a regular basis. Don’t get me wrong, you have an issue playing the game, but be sure to add the updates to make it as thrilling as possible.

The game doesn’t really offer more of a story than mentioned above, which means you run around the house, interact with a few things and eventually meet the end. It’s understood that the developer is working on a bigger version of the game, but for the time being, you might find yourself a bit bored after a few hours.
